Primitive Reflex Therapy on the Gold Coast
Primitive reflexes are automatic movements every baby is born with. As the brain develops, these reflexes are meant to fade into more mature movement. When some stay active for longer, families sometimes notice challenges with balance, posture, coordination, sitting still or settling. Our primitive reflex program uses gentle, movement-based activities to support your child's development, alongside their other therapy.
What families often notice
- Poor balance, coordination or core strength
- Difficulty sitting still or slumping at the desk
- Sensitivity to noise, touch or movement
- Trouble with handwriting or copying from the board
- Toe walking or unusual movement patterns
- Difficulty settling, sleeping or regulating emotions
What's involved
- Primitive reflex assessment to check which reflexes may still be active
- A tailored home and clinic movement program, usually short daily exercises
- Regular reviews to track changes and adjust the program
Primitive reflex work is part of our NeuroGrowth program and can be combined with occupational therapy, physiotherapy and chiropractic care.
Primitive reflex activities are also part of our 1–2 week Intensives, available in the school holidays.
